Fast screen shot of this beastie. The feets are some kinda messed up combo between the two animals. I dont even know anymore.
So uh, the May 20th in oklahoma storms made the sky weird yellowy colours? It was kinda intense and weird looking. Also RAINBOW. I think maybe 5 seconds after I closed the door a shit ton of hail dropped on the house.
:| OK you weird little weather fuck. What happened to just normal rain storms.
The sky usually turns yellow/brown during a tornado storm. But I don’t know how accurate that is because a lot of times on TV the storms ate just a very dark grey.
Cameras have a very difficult time catching the colour actually! I had to try and try and try to make mine catch the colour correctly, otherwise it was just kinda a greyish. The storms that past in my general area were not the tornadic ones. In fact I slipped through a gap in the storm line, so the browning/yellowing is rather odd. The worst I really had was flooding & some nickel sized hail.
The last few times we have had tornadic activity in my area it was pitch black so I can’t say for sure if any of this occurred then. Mostly here I have been told they skies will turn green as a sign of tornados, the brown/yellow is a new one on me XD
Some shots of my gambusia! The very first and last fishes I can not 100% sex as their fins have somewhat of a hook to them, but not a definite male development doing on? Also they are slightly larger than some of my males so it’s not that they are too young either. I’m on the fence of them being females that have ALL recently dropped (unlikely) or simply sterile hermaphrodites (most likey)
2nd photo is a female (note gravid spot and fan fin on bottom) The other 3 photos are both male fish (the marbled in the same male twice oops!)
I am hopeful the are in fact marbled females, as the body shape is more like the female as well. I’ve studied all of them (I have way more thanI’ve photographed) and so far no gravid spots on the marbled things.
I do have 3 for sure female plains, as well as 3 likely female fry (they are maybe 2-3 week old fry)

Forget neck frangles. I put them on the arms. It makes more sense in my head than the neck anyways. Also Webbing on the tail, sure why not? If you’re trying to look big, might as well go all out.
Straightened out the face. IDK why it has a foo-dog style nose now? But I kinda like it, so I’ma just roll with that. Also not sure if I like the placement of the neck..thing IDK THE FUCK IT’S CALLED.. Anyways, thinking of making it fan out infront of the snarly jaws more instead of a shark fin sticking out of the neck thing :|
Finally working on Animal Mash up art! Pretty late in the month to get started, so I have a fairly lazy pose. Working this as the “wings” are more for scare or territorial purposes than flight, just they would need to be way altered from the draco volans or non functional for flight to work on the binturong style body.
Going to work on adding in more of the volans stuff, so it doesn’t look so much like a binturong with volans wings. Thinking of using a lot more of the volans colouration, for the wings for sure!

Also you can pull up interactive radar for the storms if you want to keep a close eye on them!
KFOR live in Oklahoma as children are being pulled from debris at Plaza Towers Elementary after a tornado leveled the school.
Weather channel is also relaying this. Be aware there is also storm front rolling through the southern area of oklahoma as well.
New tank for my bettas! They aren’t in this pic, I’ll try to get a new one up with them in it. Also, I noticed my blue fish had scales flaking off on his cheek, so the water will be blue in the next pic, since I had to put meds in there.
So hey! I found a solution for your nifty fish needing a shallow rest spot! Magnetic Turtle Dock. It makes a really nice rest area or fake shore (it’s crap for reptiles though, it wont hold their weight LOL) There are similar suction cup docks, but with the history of your fish wanting to wedge themselves in narrow spots I’d just go with the magnetic :|
Also it’s nice because you can adjust the height from outside the tank! I haven’t been able to find a non corner version though. There is another brand named magnaturals, which you should steer clear of as they are not for aquatic use (and would float because of the material they are made of!) Since you have Nifty in the corner I’d say the comer rock won’t be an issue though. Also I’d suggest the small version, it will give him plenty of room, and in a 5.5gal it seems pretty large. This is the small turtle dock in my own 5.5gal for size ref. Also if you want more foliage you can get some suction cup ones, though I’m not sure they come in silk versions. You can however easily yank the plastic out and put in your own silks. Plants mounted to the side of the tank!
Awesome! I will see if I can find something like that. Looking at the one in your tank, it might be big for Nifty’s section (his is a bit smaller), but I’ll see if the fish store here has one and measure it. I may try for just some of the bigger silk plants for now. *shrug* I really do want one of those rock+plant things, even though I’ll have to rip out the plastic bits. I think I’ll just add plants to Sona’s section, and maybe do that to Peeve’s. But, Nifty needs something bigger. However, the fish have used up their budget for this month, lol.
The turtle dock is 4x6in (and roughly a triangle shape!) You might measure it, but from the photo it LOOKS like it would fit, and may be just against the divider. Though, unless you glued those down, you can make it scoot a little :>
Petsmart/petco does have them, but amazon may be cheaper, I’d just look around. Just make sure it’s listed for aquatic use (which will mainly be for turtle use). The shelves for reptiles can be questionable for aquatic use from the material being able to break down into the water, or simply being too light (and risking it floating up with your fish on top, oh noes!)
Also, if you want a more permanent thing you can also always use aquarium glue and make your own shelf. I know that saltwater hobbyist do use egg crate in their setups for such. Just a lot of options out there you know?
I pointed out the turtle dock as it’s the simplest to set up & clean.
nonsensical-artsy-fartsiness said: You were right. I am jelly of your decorations. lol
I had these in my closet the entire time LMFAO The bonzai tree looks omfg huge in the tank, it’s for a 55gal, but you know me. I LOVE over foliaged tanks lmfao The gambusia seem to love all the hide spots I have set up, and I’m planning to add another turtle dock & more suction cup plants to the left side of the tank. Also next time I’m in OKC I need to pick up another small corry, and likely a tiny algae fish, depends on if this tank grows alge or not (might not, it doesn’t have a grow light)

Done messing with this until I have more suctioncup plants and another turtle dock (to place on the corner behind the current one for added “shore”)
Now to start the process of treating the tank for parasites & disease. Even though these guys are naturally resistant to both, I want to make sure they are a clean breeding pool of fish :>
Also can I just say I get fucking excited about fish? I’m not kidding, I’m all EAGERLY ANTICIPATING SOME FISH FOOD AS MUCH AS I WOULD ART SUPPLIES. I put in an order for Hikari bloodworms, brineshrimp and daphnia and just AHHH I WANT THEM SO BAD RIGHT NOW.
If these are as great a company as I think they are I’ll be tempting to also get some tubifexworms & plankton for my babuhs. I really like to give my fish a variation in diet, and flakes just don’t do it for some of my fish (lol the neon tetras refuse to eat them)
Tank for the gambusia! Sorry about the flash, but I need to get a different light in their tank as it’s pretty dim. Found some of the pants from when I used to breed liver bearers a ton (mostly hybrid endlers, fancy guppies, platties, swords and western gambusia)
Put in an order for Daphnia and some new blood worms & brine shrimp since my supply is getting low XD I’m just really impressed they have daphnia on the market now? When I was super into fish breeding they didn’t.
Also planning on getting more suction cup plants, I love them for mounting to the sides of the tank so the foliage isn’t bottom heavy. Also planning for another magnetic rock shelf. They seem pretty well settled into the tank, and are taking to freeze dry brine shrimp well (once they figured out I was dropping FOOD into the tank LMFAO)
Some of the females are already gravid (pure grey with a black spot on the belly. Those are fish fry in them in case you’ve never dealt with livebearers :) It’ll likely be 90% plain fry from them since the pond was 90% plain (I was selectively catching the marbled ones).
If these guys start breeding like they SHOULD, I’ll likely have more than I want, and will probably sell some off for minimal costs (mostly just shipping.)
